The local city council has just approved a ban on smoking at our local beaches – they tried once before, using the second hand smoke argument, and it was rejected. This time, the approach was ‘let’s get all of those cigarette butts off the beach – kids might eat them’ and it was approved unanimously without even any debate. We knew that once they got smoking banned indoors everywhere, it was just a matter of time to attack outdoor smoking – and then it’ll be easier for them to try and ban it completely. That’s the latest from the home of the free. And we guess sightings like these:

will soon be as distant a memory as mall food courts and TV commercials ;-(
