Pulling out our crystal ball for a brief but dark look into the future today…
We’ve seen that Italy has just passed a 25% porn tax – their solution to a budget crisis. They basically used the same solution that’s been used for decades around the world: a “sin tax.”
What really concerns us, is that there are already similar proposals here in the US for a huge online sin tax. They’re not being taken seriously yet, but it’s early in the game. With the current budget deficit, coupled with government’s never-ending propensity to spend more than it has – we have no doubt that sooner or later the “sin tax” mentality will hit the online adult business hard (and make no mistake, all fetishes, including the smoking fetish, are considered adult).
In our view, that will mean that sooner or later (hopefully much later) we’ll see a huge tax on all smoking fetish website memberships and video purchases.
And that will put all of us in the smoking fetish community in the position of being “double sin taxed.” A tax on material that shows sexy women smoking — AND a tax for the cigarettes that they smoke.
Sort of adds another twist to the eternal question “is the smoking fetish a blessing or a curse?” – doesn’ t it?
