Most of us, unfortunately, see every day the effects of smoking bans and lower smoking rates, when it comes to quality sightings. The situation is even worse for those of us who remember the “glory days.”
But over the past week, we’ve seen even more signs that things aren’t primed to stay the same (let alone get better). We normally order cigarettes (for personal use and for shoots) online – but the state of New York (where we order from) has been in a battle with the reservations, which has temporarily stopped shipments.
So we’ve been going out locally over the past week to buy cigarettes, for the first time in quite a while. And the lack of stock at about ten different stores we visited – was daunting. Racks that used to be filled with every brand imaginable were half-empty (and that’s at every store, not just one or two) – and only the most common of brands were even available.
It could be that shipments were just held up everywhere. But that wasn’t the impression we had – it was that stores here in SoCal are just stocking less and less. And as we’ve sadly predicted and then seen when it came to restrictions, what happens here, eventually happens almost everywhere else.
At least for now, we still are able to film and share lots of pretty girls smoking lots of different brands – we just hope it can stay that way for a while longer
