In the past, we’ve asked for feedback, with varying results. But this time, we really need it.
If you’re a Smoke Signals Online member or regular visitor, please help us out.
We’re looking at changing the video clips that we provide on a weekly basis, and need your opinion.
What we’re tentatively planning is offering the clips in twice the current size, and higher resolution. BUT that would mean that the file sizes would be bigger, and would take longer to download.
So we really need to know whether you’d be willing to make that tradeoff in order for the clips to be bigger and better.
Please either leave a response to this entry (you don’t need to register just to leave a response) OR email us by clicking here and just saying yes or no in the response.
Thanks for your help!

yes. i enjoy longer clips. i think everyone by now has high speed so i don’t think time is a factor.

I’d vote yes for higher resolution clips, with two important caveats:
1) Please don’t eliminate the mpeg1 format option, and
2) Please keep individual clip lengths where you have them now – a minute to a minute and a half is perfect, and allows users to download as much or as little of a scene as they want to, with the option of recombining segments later if they want to. Waiting for a hi-rez fifteen or twenty minute clip to download would be waaay too much.
My $0.02,
