We know that we write pretty well – but we’re not professional writers.
So when a truly professional writer makes a point better than we could ever hope to do – we think it’s common sense to defer to him.
Gregg Esterbrook has a long and distinguished history of investigative writing for the Washington Monthly and Texas Monthly, among other many publications – and he’s also a huge football fan (as we are). He writes a weekly column for ESPN which focuses on the past weekend’s football games, but in the spirit of gonzo/contemporary commentary, he mixes in items which also focus on popular culture or whatever else comes to mind.
And in this week’s column, he expresses our feelings on the matter of the motion picture industry giving into the anti-smoking lobby better than we ever could – just scroll about halfway down the page (or search the page for the words “Scream IV”) and you’ll find it.
It’s worth the read.
